Cultural and Social Activities
Every year the International Office of EThames Graduate School arranges a long weekend trip to one of the major European cities. This gives students the exciting opportunity to visit new places and experience new cultures. On a recent trip to Paris students experienced fantastic views of Paris from the top of the Montparnasse Tower and the Eiffel tower. They visited the Louvre Art Gallery, the Basilique du Sacré-Cœur in Montmartre, saw Napoleon's Tomb, watched a cabaret show at the Moulin Rouge and, of course, had the opportunity to taste French food. For more information about our past cultural activities trips, please click here.
Our sporting activities are mostly organised by the Student Council, a voluntary group of students, and include football matches in winter and cricket games in summer. The college provides all the necessary sporting equipment and hires local pitches, so students only need to pay for the cost of travel to the nearby venues.
In 2012 students organised an EThames Get Set Olympic Festival aimed at bringing the
values of the Olympics to life and also the opportunity for students to become
involved in the local community. During this week long festival students worked
together to organise a calendar of events where they exhibited their passion for
music and dancing, held debating competitions, chess and pool tournaments as
well as sporting events. Please click here to see photos of the Olympic Festival
Getting involved in the college's cultural and sporting activities gives you the opportunity to visit new places, experience something new, and relax in a more informal environment with other students studying at the college. We hope you'll come along and get involved!
Students Feedback
- Coming all the way from Turkey, I was at first apprehensive of studying in a different country with new cultures and new way of life. But I was in for a pleasant surprise the moment I entered EThames Graduate School. Not only did I immediately feel at home, but the staff went out of their way to ensure I was well settled.
